Dance beneath
the surface.
Learn to swim like a mermaid and dance underwater, mostly one-to-one, with Aliyah: MFI and PADI certified instructor and ADEX Singapore 2024 Underwater Dance Champion.
Be the mermaid you always wanted to be.
The Dancing Mermaid is a mermaid and underwater dance school in Singapore. We teach adults and older children to move through water with grace, calm and control, from a first swim in a tail to performing on stage.
Most lessons are one-to-one, every course leads to a recognised MFI or PADI certification, and safety comes first in every one.
Three paths into the deep.
Each a ladder of certified levels. Start at the first step, or wherever your skills already are.
Calm water.
Close coaching.
Mostly one-to-one
Most lessons are one student and one instructor. Friends can book a class together, never more than four. A separate photographer takes any photos, so Aliyah's eyes stay on the water.
Safety first
Never in the water alone, always at a safe depth for the pool, and a swim test before deeper water.
Certified, step by step
Every course follows MFI's or PADI's programme and leads to a recognised certification.
From lessons to the stage
MFI's community performs at events across Asia, and MFI regards Master Mermaids as professional underwater performers.
Meet Aliyah
“Guiding students to discover their unique underwater grace is my greatest joy.”
Aliyah danced long before she swam in a tail. An award-winning belly dancer at home and abroad, she took up mermaiding in 2019 and was soon training four or five times a week.
She went on to qualify as a Molchanovs freediver, a PADI Mermaid Instructor, and an MFI Mermaid and Underwater Dance Instructor, training under the underwater dance instructor August Ho. In 2024 she won the Underwater Dance Competition at ADEX Singapore. Today she sits on MFI's Technical Committee.
On stage, in the water.
